Welcome to our "Frozen Favorites" series! Although we live in the SF Bay Area, which might just be the "Local-Organic-Real Food-Homemade-Farm to Table" capital of the world, as parents cooking for kids, we also have to live in the real world. Just like every other parent, we need to be able to grab something packaged out of the freezer now and then, and we're not losing any sleep over it. So here are our:

Just like most parents of school aged kids, their schedule often dictates how much time I have to make dinner after all of the shuttling around for after school activities is done. Mondays and Tuesdays are our late nights, with dance and swimming until close to dinner time, which means I usually need something quick, and these frozen items have become life savers!
Hopefully you have a Trader Joe's near you, but if not, try similar items at your local grocery store.
TRADER JOE'S ORANGE CHICKEN
This stuff is so easy, and so delicious and surprisingly doesn't have as much sugar as I thought it would. You just throw these in the oven, heat up the sauce and then toss it together and serve. I usually make steamed rice and broccoli to go with it.
TRADER JOE'S PORK POT STICKERS
Also very easy and a crowd pleaser. You pop them in a pan on the stove top, then add water and steam a few minutes and you're done! I also usually serve these with steamed rice and broccoli.
TRADER JOE'S VEGGIE FRIED RICE
Another easy favorite that my kids gobble up - great with scrambled eggs or leftover chopped chicken thrown in!
TRADER JOE'S BLACK BEAN & CHEESE TAQUITOS
These are excellent with salsa, sour cream and avocado on the side. I make these along with a quesadilla or two to share and the whole family is happy.
I hope this list gives you some new ideas on how to mix up your dinner routine, and hopefully make life easier now and then. If you have any favorites to add to the list, I'd love to hear it!
